Join us on our 52 week adventure.
Let’s be honest with ourselves for a minute: we have all had a bad year. I am one of the lucky ones — I still have my job, my apartment, food on my plate, and above all — my health. My heart breaks and aches for those who have lost so much.
And what maybe stings the most for me is that so much of people’s misfortune this year has been brought upon by other people’s selfishness. Those we elected to govern us, aid us, protect us — have failed us. We’ve learned which of our neighbors are egomaniacs — those throwing large gatherings and those not wearing the damn mask. We’ve learned which businesses — large and small — we can trust or perhaps more importantly, which have chosen profit over people.
I don’t need to tell you that 2020 was terrible. I don’t tend to blame calamity on the calendar, but this was really one for the books.
I have had a bad year. You have had a bad year. We have all had a bad year.
So, we’re determined to make 2021 a good one.
Welcome to A Good Year.
The affirmation: We will make 2021 a good year.
The resolution: My girlfriend, Taylor, and I will try one new thing every week. One new experience, one new location, one new adventure, every single week. Safely, of course. Masked. Distanced.
The action plan: I will keep this diary to hold us accountable. 52 weeks in a year: 52 diary entries. Each entry will document something neither one of us has ever tried before. No exceptions.
